Liana Vaccari, Ph.D.
Liana Vaccari is a project manager with the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Within IUPAC, she is supporting the strategic reorganization. In her work at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, she led the Roundtable on Plastics, managed consensus studies and supported the U.S. delegation to IUPAC. Her higher education began at New York University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, followed by a bachelor's in engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania both in chemical engineering. She is a thought leader and science communicator, helping decision makers to understand the importance and relevance of chemistry in all aspects of our lives.
Blessing Deeyaa, Ph.D.
Blessing Deeyaa is lead research chemist at PPG. Prior to this, she worked as a research scientist at Northrop Grumman (2020–2022) and was an ORISE Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute for Chemical Defense (2018–2020). She holds a doctorate in chemistry from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Georgia State University.
Roel Sanchez-Carrera, Ph.D.
Roel Sanchez-Carrera is a senior scientist working as innovation manager in the field of catalysis research at BASF. Sanchez-Carrera holds a doctorate and completed postdoctoral work in computational and physical chemistry and has an MBA with emphasis in data science. He has 15+ years of experience in performing atomistic modeling simulations with scientific software tools on supercomputers.
