King and Nenadic Named AIMBE Fellows

March 31, 2025 - The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has inducted two UC Irvine biomedical engineering faculty – Christine King and Zoran Nenadic – into its 2025 Class of the College of Fellows. AIMBE fellows are selected for outstanding contributions in their field and represent the top 2% of medical and biological engineers in the country.
King, an associate professor of teaching, was cited for her “pioneering and impactful contributions in biomedical engineering education and engineering design for women's health, and leadership in these areas.” King specializes in pedagogy strategies to promote learning and teamwork in design-build-test courses, as well as in women’s health medical devices to improve physician workflow and patient comfort in pre- and post-partum care.
Nenadic, a professor, was recognized for “the development of brain-computer interface technology to restore walking to those with paraplegia due to spinal cord injury.” His research focuses on neuroengineering, specifically the development of technologies to restore or rehabilitate functions lost due to neurological conditions, such as stroke or spinal cord injury.
The two were among 171 fellows who were inducted at the AIMBE Annual Event in Arlington, Virginia, on March 31, 2025. AIMBE’s mission is to recognize excellence, advance public understanding, and accelerate medical and biological innovation. The College of Fellows consists of nearly 3,000 accomplished individuals who work in academia, industry, education, clinical practice and government.
