BACKGROUND:
Carl Zeiss SMT Inc. and the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) at UC Irvine have established a center for nanotechnology and biotechnology research, and advanced materials characterization. Zeiss provided three state-of-the-art scanning electron microscopes, valued at $2.5 million, which will be shared by academic researchers, industry partners and the company's applications development team. Information about the microscopes: http://www.calit2.net/newsroom/release.php?id=753.
UCI students have submitted micrographs of their research, made with the scanning electron microscopes, which will be on display during the reception.
Open house demonstrations will be continuous. All events are free and open to the public. Reception registration is requested at: www.calit2.net/events/zeissopenhouse.Share
